Our first Craft Day!

We had a great time last Saturday morning doing our crafts! I got a report from at least one happy hubby about the finished products.;)

Let me know what you'd like to do next and when you'd like to do it. Tentatively, maybe we can plan on something for May? Summer/Americana themed? Ideas?

So how do I sign up and all that?

Here are some instructions for letting me know which crafts you would like to do and how to pay for them:

Deadline

Sunday, January 27, is the last day to sign up for your crafts and pay for them so I can get the supplies in plenty of time.

Signing Up

Sign up by leaving a comment on this post with your first name and last initial and which crafts you want to do, plus any specific requests (such as twine color for the eggs). If you are not comfortable with that, I will have the Relief Society send out my email address for you to contact me. If I am really with it, I will make a sign up sheet to go around to Relief Society and the other auxiliaries. 

Payment

Pay me directly, preferably by check for easier tracking. If I don't have your money, I won't be able to get your supplies.

Canceling

If you sign up and pay me money, let me know ASAP if you have changed your mind. It's possible that I won't be able to refund you if I have already ordered the supplies--for instance, I will be ordering the bakers twine online and so can't return the portion you would have used. But with enough notice maybe someone else will take your supplies. Or, of course, if you just can't make it to the activity that morning, I can give you the supplies and some instructions.

Craft Day Saturday, February 9

Our first craft day is coming up!

When: February 9, 2013

           9-11 a.m.

Where: My house

           (This is a public blog so I won't include my address-- contact me if you need it and we will announce it at church as well.)

These are the crafts I've chosen to do. I selected them according to the feedback I got from you.

Yarn Wreath

You can use a neutral color yarn to make this a wreath you can use all year round by changing out embellishments.

Cost: $4 for the straw wreath
You provide: 1 skein yarn of your choice; felt of your choice if you want to make embellishments (I used the squares of colored felt you can buy at craft stores)
Time estimate: 45 minutes to 1 hour to wrap the wreath, more time to make the embellishments depending on what you do

Bakers Twine Eggs

These are a pretty Easter decoration!

Cost: $1 per egg for the bakers twine for the small eggs, $2 per egg for the jumbo-- I am hoping that if we get enough people doing this, I can find a better price for the twine
You provide: Old Easter eggs, close to the color of the twine you choose to use
Time estimate: 15 minutes per egg

The colors I used are yellow/white, pink/white, green/white, and blue/white. You can tell me the colors that you want and we will do our best to get them for you.

Magnetic Chore Charts

Make these into chore charts or a magnetic chart of any kind for you or your kids.

Cost: $8 includes the wood for the board (if you want dark brown, white, or black, I can possibly paint them for you ahead of time), the sheet metal, magnets, and wooden nickels for the magnets
You provide: 3 pieces of coordinating craft paper. At least one must be a 12x12"; the others can either be 8.5x11" or cut down to that size.
Time estimate: After I do the prep work :), probably the whole two hours and then some. But so worth it, don't you think?
